HI THERE!

I´m Kate O'Malley and I'm happy you're here.

A lifetime in the realm of creativity and wellness has led me to become a licensed therapist (MFC#119889), furnished with a Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy/Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University.

Deeply passionate about facilitating transformation in people of all ages, my approach combines narrative therapy, mindfulness, trauma work, and sometimes a little art therapy. The magic lies in liberating individuals from their internal critics, guiding them away from their comfort zones, and enabling them to connect with new facets of themselves. I wholeheartedly believe that we are all far more than our struggles, and everyone has the capacity to achieve their fullest potential.

My work is centered on cultivating self-compassion through deliberate self-care. Providing you with actionable strategies and thoughtful exercises, I endeavor to empower you not just to survive but to truly thrive.

The wonder of being an Art Therapist? It immerses me in the kaleidoscopic world of creativity. From watercolors and textile arts to clay and collage, I find joy in each form. Art has an innate power to heal, to transform, to comfort, and to reveal newfound insights. It's this guided creative process that I use as a catalyst to enhance your emotional, spiritual, social, cognitive, and physical well-being.

When life's waves grow rough, remember - even the smallest step taken with a professional Marriage and Family Therapist can set in motion a sea of change. I am committed to your well-being, arming you with the tools you need to seize each day and bravely navigate the most challenging circumstances.

A Bit About Art Therapy

Art Therapy is a transformative approach that seamlessly blends the power of art-making with therapeutic practices to foster personal growth. It isn't simply about creating art; it's about using the language of colors, shapes, and textures to manifest the life you envision for yourself.

Imagine a process where conversation meets creation, where self-exploration meets self-expression. That's what Art Therapy offers. It's an opportunity to illuminate the deepest parts of yourself, enhance communication, nurture relationships, and be the catalyst for meaningful change in your life.

The beauty of this approach lies in its flexibility and adaptability. Our journey together is tailored to your unique needs. The frequency with which we introduce art into therapy, and the choice of materials - these decisions are collaboratively made, reflecting our partnership in this transformative process.

Art Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all approach; it's a deeply personal and individualized path toward self-discovery and healing.

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I offer a constellation of services designed to cater to your unique needs.

Whether it's through personal one-on-one therapy sessions, guiding you through life's most complex challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma, or empowering couples to mend bridges, enhance their communication, and heal relationship wounds. For families, I act as a beacon of light amidst tumultuous times, navigating familial conflicts and major transitions such as divorce or loss. Group therapy sessions, meanwhile, offer a comforting environment, fostering shared experiences and mutual growth. My specialized approach includes art therapy, using the power of creative expression as a means for individuals to unravel emotions too deep for words. Further, I conduct enriching workshops and seminars on a wide array of topics, including stress management, coping with grief, and effective parenting skills. To ensure accessibility for all, I also offer teletherapy for those unable to attend in-person sessions. My services extend to providing expert consultations to individuals, professionals, or organizations seeking informed guidance on mental health or relationship dynamics. All in all, my practice is a haven of holistic healing, designed with the utmost care and tailored to your personal journey.

My services include...

01

Individual Counseling for Adults

Art Therapy intertwines creative expression and traditional psychotherapy techniques. As your guide, I help illuminate your underlying issues, desires, and emotions through both conversation and art, empowering you to navigate change and alleviate distress. Regardless of your artistic background or aptitude, this process offers a refreshing avenue for growth.

02

Children & Teens Counseling

Art Therapy provides a unique platform for children and teens to express feelings they may struggle to articulate. Through art, we open doors to communication, growth, and fun, making therapy sessions more appealing. From developing organizational skills to enhancing frustration tolerance, the benefits are multifaceted. For teens, art serves as a powerful communication tool and aids in forming essential emotional bonds, helping them feel seen and understood.

03

Brainspotting

Brainspotting, a treatment discovered by David Grand, Ph.D., in 2003, leverages eye positions and focused mindfulness to activate the brain's natural healing processes. During sessions, therapists tune into the client's brain, mind, and body, allowing access to unprocessed trauma. It's beneficial for treating trauma, anxiety, phobias, addictions, depression, and somatic pain, and can also enhance performance for athletes, artists, and public speakers.

04

Retreats & Workshops

I am conducting retreats and workshops on various topics, such as stress management, effective communication, parenting skills, etc.
